Something Different

Cappucho is a micro-roastery and coffee bar built inside a shipping container on Main Street in Redwood City. We roast daily on our Bellwether roaster, preparing distinctive Ethiopian, Honduran, Indonesian and Brazilian coffees for both East and West Coast preferences. Our globally inspired menu draws from the cafés, street breakfasts and coffee rituals of Italy, Taiwan, Hong Kong, New York and Northern California.

At the center of Cappucho is the idea of Environmental Coffee. Coffee is never experienced through taste alone. The cup exists within a canopy of place, temperature, light, architecture, sound, weather, nature, language, art and human presence. The fragrance of a freshly roasted Ethiopian coffee changes when it meets the open air, the warmth of the sun, the movement of Main Street and the conversation of the people gathered around it.

Cappucho grew from founder Joe Witherspoon’s 45-year relationship with coffee, shaped by California, his Swiss and Italian roots, and roasting and café training in Taiwan. It is a place for attentive craft without ceremony, conversation without obligation and the pleasure of being somewhere rather than rushing somewhere else. Drink coffee. Do nothing.
